The Holliday Gathering of Flute Circles is an anual event that brings together many of the flute circles within driving distance of Bentonville. The event starts with a potluck dinner (that is everyone who attends brings a food dish to share). There are usually several flute makers with flutes availible for sale. The evening concludes with a flute circle were everyone get to partisipate. This is held at the Museum of Native American History located at 202 SW “O” St. Bentonville, AR.  (MAP) We begin at 5:30pm and generally go until 8:30pm.

Flute Haven Native Flute School

Join us for a musical adventure centered on music-making with the Native American Flute. These workshops are designed for players of any amount of experience who want to raise their playing and enjoyment of the instrument to a new level.

We meet in Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday evening September 13, 2011 for a Cheese, Wine & Flute reception followed by the opening session from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. We continue with workshops throughout the day from Wednesday through Saturday, September 14-17.

On Saturday evening there is a group jam session at the Pickering Creek Inn. This session is open to friends and family to join us for dinner (not included in the registration fee) and to watch the music-making. On Sunday morning, September 18, there is a closing and graduation ceremony that finishes by Noon. Throughout the week there are extra activities, including recording, private lessons, and an open jam room.

Sessions focus on playing technique, improvisation styles, jamming with other musicians (flute as well as guitar, piano, etc), adding your voice to your music, incorporating rhythm, and song forms. You will come away with the ability to play with confidence and an understanding of rhythms, tones and improvisation.
