In 1838 the United States forcibly removed more than 16,000 Cherokee Indian from their homelands in North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia and sent them to Indian Territory today known as Oklahoma.  Over 4000 Cherokee died during and as a result of this relocation.  This tragic chapter in American and Cherokee history became known as the Trail of Tears.  This album was created to commemorate the suffering of the Cherokee nation during this forced removal.  May it never be forgotten and may we heal the wounds of the past through songs of love and remembrance as displayed in this album.  Some of the songs contained in this album were played along the Trail of Tears.  The song “Lost Love” was specifically written and composed in memory of those who perished during this relocation.
